NORMAN, Okla. (UATV) – The No. 6 Arkansas Razorbacks fell to No. 1 Oklahoma in a top-10 weekend series, dropping two of three games at Love’s Field.
Arkansas came up just short in game one on Friday, falling 8-7 in a back-and-forth battle. The Razorbacks scored two runs in both the second and third innings to build early momentum, then added another in the fifth. After Oklahoma took the lead late, Arkansas pushed across two runs in the seventh inning, but the rally fell just short.
The Razorbacks bounced back in game two on Saturday with a 3-2 win to even the series. Arkansas scored once in the second inning and added two more in the sixth to take control. Sydney Berzon delivered a strong performance in the circle, pitching 4.2 innings while allowing just two hits and two earned runs. She also did not issue a walk and recorded a strikeout, helping Arkansas hold off Oklahoma down the stretch.
Sunday’s rubber match shifted heavily in Oklahoma’s favor, as the Sooners secured an 11-1 win in five innings. Oklahoma jumped out early with two runs in the first inning and followed with five more in the second. The Sooners added four runs in the fourth to extend the lead, while Arkansas managed its only run in the fifth inning.
Despite the series loss, Arkansas showed the ability to compete with the nation’s top team, keeping games close and responding after a tough opening loss. The Razorbacks’ pitching and timely hitting in game two highlighted their potential against elite competition.
Oklahoma ultimately took the series two games to one. Arkansas now sits at 36-8 overall and 11-7 in SEC play as the Razorbacks look to regroup heading into their next conference matchup. They will look to bounce back Wednesday against Tulsa before returning to SEC play Friday for a conference series against Missouri.
