Earth Day planting at the Ramble

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – Dozens of volunteers gathered at the Lower Ramble on Monday evening to support local sustainability efforts as part of this year’s Earth Week.

Around 30 volunteers worked together to plant 270 native plants along the pathway in just two hours. The effort focused on improving the natural environment while creating a more welcoming space for the community to enjoy.

The Organizers believe planting native species play an important role in supporting the local ecosystem. These plants provide food and a habitat for birds, pollinators and other wildlife that rely on native vegetation to survive. The addition of these plants is expected to strengthen biodiversity in the area and help maintain a healthier environment over time.

The event also highlighted the impact of community involvement. Volunteers of all backgrounds came together to complete the project, showing how quickly meaningful change can happen with enough support. Organizers credited the turnout and teamwork for making the planting effort a success.

They also thanked the Watershed Conservation Resource Center for providing more than 250 native plants, the Fayetteville Environmental Action Committee for helping make the event possible and Signature Bank of Arkansas for feeding the volunteers.

The Lower Ramble has become a popular spot for both students and Fayetteville residents, offering a space to walk, relax and connect with nature. These kinds of projects not only improve the look of the area but also help create a more sustainable environment that can be enjoyed long-term. Continued efforts like this are important to help the community grow and look for ways to balance development with environmental responsibility.

Earth Week events will continue throughout the week, giving students and community members more opportunities to get involved in efforts to help the environment.
