FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – The Arkansas Razorbacks fell short in a weekend series against the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs, dropping two out of three games at Baum-Walker Stadium.

Arkansas opened the series strong Thursday night with a 6-3 win. The Razorbacks jumped out early, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding two more in the fourth. Starting pitcher Hunter Dietz delivered a solid performance, going 5.1 innings while allowing just two earned runs and recording six strikeouts. Arkansas added an insurance run in the seventh to secure the victory.

Georgia responded in game two on Friday, taking a 5-3 win to even the series. The Bulldogs built an early lead with runs in the second and third innings, then added insurance runs later in the game. Arkansas made a push with two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh, but the comeback fell short.

Saturday’s rubber match turned into a high-scoring battle that ultimately got away from Arkansas. The Razorbacks came out hot, leading 6-1 after two innings. Georgia answered quickly with a six-run third inning to take the lead, and both teams continued to trade runs through the middle innings.

After the game was tied at nine in the fourth, Georgia took control, scoring in five straight innings. The Bulldogs put the game out of reach with a massive 11-run ninth inning. Arkansas added three runs in the final frame, but it was not enough as Georgia secured a 26-14 win.

Despite the series loss, Arkansas showed flashes of strong offense throughout the weekend, particularly early in games. However, struggles on the mound proved costly, especially in the final game.

Georgia took the series two games to one, handing Arkansas a tough home loss. The Razorbacks now sit at 26-15 overall and 9-9 in SEC play as they look to bounce back in their next matchup.
