FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – A weekend-long cyclo-cross festival is taking place in Centennial Park this weekend from October 14-16.
The festival will bring top global cyclists for the 2022 Walmart UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup. Cyclo-cross is a form of cycling that includes road cycling, mountain biking, and steeplechase.
The events kick off with elite-level internationally sanctioned races on Friday. Saturday will consist of amateur races. Lastly, the festival will conclude with Sunday’s UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup race.
Along with the competition, there will also be fun racing opportunities for children and families. Local cyclists of all skill levels and corporate teams can also participate in these fun opportunities. Guests can enjoy live music and food trucks as well.
This is not the first time the UCI Cyclo-cross events have come to Northwest Arkansas. Walmart sponsored the race earlier this year. The event brought a crowd of nearly 20,000 people to Fayetteville.
Arkansas Children’s Northwest in Springdale will receive all revenue generated from ticket sales as donations.
The event weekend is ticketed, but the organizers are also accepting donations on behalf of Arkansas Children’s Northwest for general admission tickets. A limited number of VIP ticket packages are also available. Tickets can be found through the cyclo-cross website.
