FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Alongside the baseball team, the Razorback Softball team hosted the Florida Gators at Bogle Park. Florida entered the weekend ranked #5 and boasted a record of 32-3. The Razorbacks entered the weekend ranked #9 with a record of 29-4.
The first game saw the Razorbacks take the lead in the 3rd inning on a 2-run single from Tianna Bell. The Hogs never relinquished the lead and took the first game of the series 6-2. Robyn Herron got the job done on the mound with 8 strikeouts and only 1 earned run. Tianna Bell led the hogs at the plate going 2-4 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored.
The second game of the series took a different turn with The Gators doubling The Hogs score, 12-6. A combined 21 hits saw an offensive showdown that went in Florida’s favor. Arkansas took the lead early, but Florida fired back quickly making it 5-1 in the 4th inning. Arkansas kept the game interesting by making it a 1 run game in the bottom of the 6th inning on an Atalyia Rijo home run. But the Hogs couldn’t finish the job and gave up 5 runs in the 7th inning, resulting in a final score of 12-6.
The final game of the series decided who would take the win. Florida took control through the first half of the game with a 4-0 lead through the top of the 5th inning. But the tide started to turn with a 3 run homerun from Karlie Davison to bring the score to 4-3. The score remained the same until the bottom of the 7th inning. With 2 runners on, Dakota Kennedy walked it off with a homerun to take game 3 with a score of 6-4 and the series going 2-1.
