Arkansas QB Taylen Green sets records at NFL Combine

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – Former University of Arkansas Quarterback Taylen Green broke a pair of NFL Combine records this past weekend. The records were recently by Anthony Richards in 2023. Richards was drafted 4th overall by the Indianapolis Colts.

The 6-foot-6, 227 pound Texas native charted a 43.5-inch vertical and sprung 11 feet, 2 inches in the broad jump, uncharted waters for standard quarterbacks competing in the event. Richards, who was listed as 6-foot-4, 244 pounds, set records with his 40.5-inch vertical alongside his 10 feet, 9 inches in the broad jump.

Not only does Taylen Green have hops – he also has speed. Green ran a 4.36 in the 40-yard dash, the second fastest time ever recorded by a quarterback. The results made scouts immediately turn their heads in speculation for a position change to wide receiver.

The NFL Network promoted a graphic during its national broadcast of a side-by-side comparison of combine stats performed by quarterback Taylen Green and veteran wide receiver DK Metcalf. In 2019 Metcalf ran a 4.33 40-yard dash with a vertical jump of 40.5 inches.

Looking back on Taylen Green’s stats at Arkansas, starting in 11 of 12 games – Green completed less than 60% of his passes, while also being picked-off 11 times. On the other end of the stick, Green accounted for 27 touchdowns – 19 being passing and 8 rushing. Green’s perseverance in scoring drives through the air and on the ground is nothing to be taken lightly.

At the end of the day, Taylen Green needed a star-studded performance in Days 2 and 3 of the NFL Combine in order to gain attention. Green delivered that by turning heads across the league with a showing that proved he was NFL caliber. It is safe to say that Taylen Green made his mark and will be on NFL radars in the coming months.
