FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) — Razorback football offensive coordinator Dan Enos was fired Oct. 22. This comes after the team fell to Mississippi State 3-7 and has an overall season record of 2-6.

Head coach Sam Pittman said that “Dan worked extremely hard,” but that “it just wasn’t working.”

Pittman said that the struggles are not solely on Enos. He said that the players were not as ambitious as in previous seasons.

“Our kids weren’t as motivated, and that can go on me as well. Kids weren’t as motivated to play as I have seen in the past,” Pittman said.

Despite offensive line issues, Pittman is optimistic about the rest of the season.

“They have it going on defense, so I know it’s possible to do,” Pittman said.

Moving on, current wide receiver coach Kenny Guiton will move to coach the quarterbacks and call plays. If Guiton does well, it may put him in the running to take the offensive coordinator position next season. Pittman said he would prefer to stay in house with his coaching team.

Pittman said that he knows that the challenge to change the team is on him.

“I’m not worried about my job, I’m worried about the damn state of Arkansas, and having them proud of our football team. And hell, I’m not right now, and I know they ain’t, and I get it, but I’m the only one who can change it, so we’re going to work like hell to get that done,” Pittman said.

The Razorbacks are on a ‘bye’ this week. Next week, Nov. 6, the team will face off with the Florida Gators.
