FAYTTEVILLE,Ark. (UATV)—

The latest Clery Report distributed by the University of Arkansas Police Department on Oct. 1 lists 19 reported rapes last year, up six from 2024.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics requires that a annual report be distributed to all current faculty, staff and students and includes statistics for the previous three years concerning crimes that occurred on campus. Notification of the reports publication must also be made.

Officials say the increase may reflect greater comfort with reporting. Sexual and Relationship Violence Center (SRVC) Director Mary Wyandt-Hiebert said in a email that students can rely on their support.

“The SRVC is a safe space with 100% confidentiality. Nationally credentialed advocates are well equipped with many options and resources,” Wyandt-Hiebert said in a email.

Wyandt-Hiebert added that the SRVC offers trauma informed individualized advocacy as well as a weekly support group and counseling referrals. Advocates can help students identify options for their needs.

“Police or Title IX reporting is not required,” Wyandt-Hiebert said in a email. “No report is made unless the student wants to make a report. If a student wants to make a report, an advocate will provide support for the student.”

Students affected by sexual assault can turn to Star Central for free advocacy services or contact the university’s title IX office to report a incident.
