FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV)- The University Police Department will host a drug takeback event this weekend, Oct. 28. They will accept any excess drugs and needles, no questions asked.
Community Outreach and Involvement Liaison Corporal Allen Porter said that this event gives people a chance to properly dispose of any unneeded drugs.
“I think it’s safer, better, and easier for the community if you get rid of these drugs than to hold onto them with fear of getting in trouble,” Porter said.
This event is part of the national Drug Takeback Day. UAPD officers will be on hand to collect unused prescription medications.
Porter also said that participants do not have to worry about legal trouble for the drugs they bring.
“There’s this complete anonymity, we aren’t looking at what types of drugs they are at all,” Porter said.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2.p.m. at the Administrative Services Building at 155 S. Razorback Rd. For those that cannot make it to this event, the building also houses a permanent drug drop off box that can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
