FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – “Better in Black: Celebrating Black Excellence” is a photo exhibit consisting of University of Arkansas students and faculty.

The exhibit opened yesterday and is located in the Anne Kittrell Gallery on the fourth floor of the Arkansas Union. Assistant director for multicultural programming and diversity initiatives, AnReckez Daniels, explained what this exhibit is about:

“For Black History Month I decided to do a gallery showing, a photo shoot for current faculty, staff and students,” Daniels said. “My goal was to capture students in the now at the University of Arkansas and just show that we are in space and we are taking our space, we’re praising it and that should be celebrated.”

Daniels said that the university appointing its first Black chancellor was an important component to this exhibit.

“After 151 years, we’re celebrating our first black chancellor. I think it’s so important to frame what it’s like to be Black at the University of Arkansas right now in 2023,” Daniels said.

The exhibit will be on display until Feb. 28th.
