FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – Flu vaccines and Bivalent COVID-19 vaccines are available at the Pat Walker Health Center.
The annual flu vaccination is available for all members of the University of Arkansas community, including spouses and dependents. According to the Arkansas Department of Health, there is no out-of-pocket cost for the flu vaccine, but it is encouraged to bring insurance information if you have it.
The Bivalent COVID-19 vaccine is currently only available to students, faculty, and staff at the University of Arkansas.
Appointments are required for both vaccines, and can be made at myhealth.uark.edu.
It is safe to get both vaccinations at once, according to the Assistant Director of Communications at Pat Walker, Breanne Carter.
“Although we don’t really know what the rise may possibly be for covid 19 or for flu, how prevalent it will be, I’ll definitely say it’s important to receive your flu vaccine and your covid 19 bivalent vaccine as soon as possible,” Carter said.
The University of Arkansas is also participating in a challenge with other colleges across the state to see which institution has the most undergraduate students who self-report as receiving both vaccines. The university with the highest percentage of undergraduates vaccinated will win a trophy from ImmunizeAR.
To encourage the community to get vaccinated and fill out the survey, the Pat Walker Health Center is giving away three $50 amazon gift cards over the course of three months. More information can be found on Pat Walker Health Center’s instagram account.
