FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 6 Arkansas Razorback baseball team finished up the weekend at the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic with a 3-2 loss to the Baylor Bears last Sunday night at Minute Maid Park.
The Hogs (7-3) managed eight hits against the Bears (8-3) and allowed six hits.
The Bears scored a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to take a 3-0 lead over the Razorbacks. The Hogs were able to respond in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI double by junior designated hitter Matt Goodheart and a RBI single by junior left fielder Braydon Webb.
The Diamond Hogs were not able to get on base in the ninth as senior Luke Boyd threw a 1-2-3 inning for the Bears to close out the game earning his 5th save of the year.
Junior Kole Ramage was the losing pitcher (1-1) and pitched five innings. He struck out six batters, gave up a walk, two earned runs, and four hits.
Bears senior Hayden Kettler obtained the win (2-1) throwing five shutout innings in his appearance and only allowing four hits. He struck out five batters and allowed one walk.
The Arkansas Razorback baseball team returns to Fayetteville for a six-game homestead. The Hogs will kick off their homestretch against the Illinois State Redbirds (3-7) at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Baum-Walker Stadium.
