FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Mike Reynolds has been named Chief of Police, Fayetteville Police Department announced Monday.
Mayor Lioneld Jordan appointed Reynolds, who was already serving as interim chief, according to a press release from the mayor’s office.
Jordan offered praise for Reynolds in the statement.
“Mike has a great sense of empathy and is always willing to look at different points of view, listen, gather facts and make thoughtful, educated decisions,” Jordan said. “I believe the best days of the police department lie ahead under his leadership as he will continue to build upon the foundation of excellence this City has always had from our Fayetteville Police Department.”
The top position had been vacant since former chief Greg Tabor announced his retirement after 13 years at the helm, second-longest in FPD history.
Reynolds is also an alumnus of the University of Arkansas, where he earned a degree in criminal justice.
