FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. – David Dickey is a former Razorback player who played in the 1960’s. He was inducted into the 2019 Hall of Honor during the Arkansas-Colorado State game.
“After 50 something years to get that recognition is really awesome,” Dickey said.
His grandson, Robert Stewart, attends the U of A, following his grandfather’s footsteps. He plays the clarinet in the Razorback band and was on the field during Dickey’s induction.
Stewart is originally from Virginia and had the opportunity to stay in his home state. “Between the two, it never really seemed like a choice to me,” Stewart said.
“For a brief period of time, for us to be on the field, at the same time, is tremendously emotional for me.” Dickey said.
Dickey’s college career was covered by one current journalism professor, Gerald Jordan.
Jordan helped recruit Stewart to the school and says he’s happy to see the family come full circle.
Kevin Campell, James Cathcart, Dick Cunningham, Joe Johnson, David Lingmerth, Anthony Lucas, Hal McAfee, Aurelija Miseviciute, LaShaunte’a Moore, Tiffany Woolley Moyer, Wallace Spearmon Jr., Martin Smith, Tommy Trantham and Lee Yoder are the other 2019 Hall of Honor inductees.
