New Class at the University of Arkansas Teaches Storm Spotter Training

By: Katherine Hill

FAYETTVILLE, Ark. – The state is expecting a large number of severe weather reports this Spring. To educate students, the National Weather Service provided a free class March 27th on campus. Professionals from eastern Oklahoma and northwestern Arkansas focused the training on how to make critical decisions during severe weather.

The job of a storm spotter in this area is to provide weather reports to local officials and to the National Weather Service in Tulsa. The class was open to the public and held in the University Police headquarters on campus.

The severe weather season began this month but isn’t expected to peak until mid-April.
