Arkansas State Police investigating officer involved shooting

ASHLEY COUNTY, Ark. — Arkansas State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting in Crossett on Thursday, December 31.

According to an ASP report, officers were issuing a warrant for David Massey, Jr. when he fled in a vehicle toward a sheriff’s deputy. The deputy fired his pistol at the vehicle before being struck by the car.

At least one other law enforcement officer fired at the vehicle as it sped away. Massey traveled a short distance further before surrendering to police.

The sheriff’s deputy was treated for minor cuts and abrasions and released from a local hospital. Massey was transported to a Little Rock hospital for a non-life threatening wound. Once released from the hospital, he will be transported to the Ashley County Jail.

The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is handling the deadly force investigative report for the Ashley County Prosecuting Attorney.
