Liveblogging ASG Senate – Feb. 2

6:27 – A very uneventful meeting.

6:26 – Former Chief of Staff under Pres. Carter Ford Megan Francis speaks during the public comments section.

“If anyone would like to talk about campus issues with me, I’ll be available.”

6:24 – The Fayetteville Farmer’s Market might be coming to campus as early as this summer, says Sustainability Committee Chair Billy Fleming.  The talks are still in a very early stage.

6:22– The executive elections this year will last 3 days and campaigning will last for one week, says Elections Committee member Senator  Sam Hall.  This is less time than last year.

6:21 – Treasurer Brophey says 71 groups requested funding from ASG.

6:15 – Lippert cites successes such as working with committees, office hour attendance and providing online candidate profiles.

Increased student involvement is also cited, but work needs to be done.

“We have a public comments section, that no one comes to… we are taping the senate meetings now, and we need to do something with those tapes now.”

6:14 – “My first goal was to fill this body to capacity, and at this I have failed miserably,” says Lippert.

6:13 – Chair Lippert has a form passed to senators to gather feedback about the senate.

6:11 – “Cola with the Administration” will be held on the afternoon of March 9th.  12:30 – 1:30 pm.

Too many students slept instead of chatted with faculty during “Coffee with the Chancellor” earlier in the year.

6:10 – Town Hall meeting will be held on February 17th.  A table and board will be provided in the Union for students to submit questions.

6:09 – About 1,200 people have completed the student poll, says Bookhout.  It takes about 15 minutes to complete.

6:07 – President Bookhout will be meeting with pre-dental student to discuss oral hygiene on campus.

Ironically, coffee will be served.

6:00 pm – Not much on tonight’s agenda.  It’s ASG Chair of Senate Tammy Lippert’s birthday today, and an off-campus, unofficial party is rumored to be taking place after the meeting.
