About UATV

UATV began in 1995 as the television station by and for the students. It serves to both teach students to become exceptional journalists and to produce news and entertainment content that can’t be found anywhere else. Kimpel Hall is the home of the UATV studio, control room. Students are capable of producing programming equal in quality to local affiliates, thanks to a state-of-the-art video switcher, graphics generator, and other professional equipment.

UATV, University of Arkansas Television, went on the air during the fall semester of 1996 exclusively in Fayetteville. Later, the student-ran TV station was added to Springdale, and a few years ago, the UATV signal was expanded to into much of Northwest Arkansas, but the station shared programming time on Channel 14 with Fayetteville, Springdale and Rogers Schools.

On December 9, 2010, UATV began broadcasting on Cox Communications Channel 214 throughout Northwest Arkansas, and on Channel 22 on the University of Arkansas campus. UATV programming reach now exceeds 100,000 households through Cox Cable. The station continues to stream its signal to the world through @UATVNews on Twitter, Facebook, and live streaming apps available on Roku and Apple TV.

UATV is a 24-hour a day, year-round station, with student-produced news, sports, entertainment, public affairs programs, and documentaries originating from studios on the second floor of Kimpel Hall on the University of Arkansas campus.

UATV works in conjunction with the University of Arkansas Student Media Board and the School of Journalism and Strategic Media. Any student currently enrolled in the University of Arkansas, regardless of major, can volunteer for UATV, no TV experience is needed. Most new volunteers begin working on programs right away.
