Recent political activity across Northwest Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – Recent events have spurred protests, demonstrations, and even local political organizations to rebrand and remove themselves from their national counterparts. Between the war in the Middle East, the developments around the Epstein files, and the Turning Point USA partnership in Arkansas, there is plenty for the public to talk about.

Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk met with Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders at the Arkansas Governors Mansion. The agenda of this meeting was to announce a partnership that encouraged Arkansas schools to allow students to start TPUSA chapters or a similar group chapter, Club America. Alongside this announcement, Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed an official proclamation stating that she:

  • Encourages students in every Arkansas high school and college to engage in civil discourse and open dialogue by starting a Turning Point USA chapter.
  •  Encourages all high schools and colleges to accept students reasonable participation in clubs or political or religious speech.
  • Discourages public schools from discriminating against free speech in violation of the Free Speech Clause and Equal Access Act, especially conservative students’ right to free speech, as has occurred in other states.
  • Official Proclamation

Following this announcement, The University of Arkansas chapter of TPUSA stated that they were officially rebranding to “Young American Revival” and removing any ties to the national organization. The reason for this decision comes from discussions within their chapter’s executive board. The Chapter President, Dino Fantegrossi, said the chapter believes that the national organization has moved away from it’s initial values of promoting conservative policies and values.

“Indivisible”, a nationwide movement, declared that March 28th will be National Protest Day. Across the country there will be over 3,000 individual protests to take place on “No Kings Day”. These protests are not directly controlled by “Indivisible”, but rather it is meant to be a group effort for different branches to organize a protest. The Northwest Arkansas branch of “Indivisible” has state that over 10,000 participants are expected to gather on Dickson Street. This protest will start at 9:30 in the morning and will last until 2:30 in the afternoon.
