FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – A student organization at the University of Arkansas has cut ties with its national affiliation.
The campus chapter of Turning Point USA announced it is no longer associated with the national organization. The group shared the decision in a statement posted to its Instagram account.
The announcement follows months after the death of Charlie Kirk, whose legacy has remained a focal point for the organization. In the fall, the chapter held a memorial in his honor.
According to the statement, one reason for the separation was disagreement over how the national organization used Kirk’s image.
Dino Fantegrossi, founder and chairman of the newly rebranded Young American Revival, said the decision was also about gaining more independence moving forward.
“We made this decision because we wanted more creative liberty and freedom over what we do with our chapter, and this gives us the ability to do that,” Fantegrossi said.
Following the split, the group has rebranded as Young American Revival. The organization said the change will allow members to operate with greater autonomy while continuing to engage students on campus.
