FAYETTEVILLE, Ark (UATV)- The Holiday season kicked off as shoppers leave the thanksgiving table and make their way to the largest shopping mall in Arkansas, Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers.
Shoppers were bundled up in line at Bass Pro Shops as early as 4 a.m. with some arriving late thursday night to camp out, some shoppers traveled from Oklahoma to snag the best deals.
Zachary Brooks was in line since 11 PM on Thursday night and added that he got $500 gift card for being one of the first people in line as it was wrapped around the building overnight.
A few hours later, shoppers were in line waiting to get into popular stores like Lululemon, Bath and Body Works, and Sephora.
Angie Landers and her Daughter began shopping at 6:30 a.m. and a few hours later, they were stuck in line trying to get into Bath and Body Works to look for sale items and as the store employee could only let in a few people as other shoppers left, she calls it “selfish shopping”
Shoppers like Francisco and Cynthia Gonzalez were having a hard time finding gifts for their loved ones and one of them thinks the stores are so crowded, which was the case at Sephora as shoppers packed the aisles to look at and try the latest makeup, perfume, and colongue.
Malco Theaters saw the busiest movie goers as Wicked for Good, Zootopia 2, and Eternity dominated the Box office.
President Trump’s tariffs caused concern for some shoppers like Courtney Reed, who traveled from Oklahoma to visit her extended family.
“They were definitely looking for sales, though, that’s what draws us in.” Reed said
Many more retail executives reported customers were becoming more discerning and increasingly focused on deals to save money.
Bill Adams with Comerica Bank says that shoppers moods can vary based on the experience.
“Consumers have been saying the economy is terrible while continuing to spend for years now, so the outlook is probably better than they are telling us.” Adams said
According to Adobe Analytics, online shopping has been on the increase from November 1- November 23. and will increase more with Cyber Monday deals.
Mastercard SpendingPulse predicted a 3.6% increase in holiday sales from Nov. 1-Dec. 24 which compares to a 4.1% increase last year.
