Sources: Arkansas Set to Hire Memphis’ Ryan Silverfield

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) — Arkansas has found its next head football coach. Multiple ESPN sources say the Razorbacks are finalizing a deal with Ryan Silverfield, who has led Memphis since 2019.

Silverfield went 50–25 with the Tigers and built a reputation for steady, consistent football. His teams won at least eight games in four of his six full seasons and picked up several bowl wins, including back-to-back victories over Power Four opponents. Earlier this year, Memphis also knocked off Arkansas in Fayetteville, a loss that helped spark the program’s coaching change.

He replaces Sam Pittman, who was fired on Sept. 28 after a 2–3 start. Interim coach Bobby Petrino finished the season, but the Razorbacks dropped their final seven games.

Before taking over at Memphis, Silverfield coached the Tigers’ offensive line and made stops with the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Arizona State, and others. Arkansas officials see him as someone who can rebuild patiently but still win right away.

The university is expected to formally introduce Silverfield once the deal is complete.
