FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – Brandon Burlsworth is remembered as one of the most inspiring athletes in University of Arkansas history. Even though he died young, his story continues to make a difference through the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation.

Burlsworth’s story is a true example of hard work and determination. He joined the Razorback football team in 1994 as a walk-on. He faced many challenges but kept working hard every day. By 1998, he became an All American offensive lineman. Tragically, he died in a car accident just 11 days after being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 1999.

The Brandon Burlsworth Foundation was created to honor his legacy and help children succeed, especially those who face obstacles. The foundation focuses on promoting values like faith, teamwork, and perseverance.

Since it started, the foundation has helped over 7,500 children attend football games, giving them an experience they might never have had otherwise. Jamie, one of the students who attended a game through the foundation, said, “It’s unreal. I never imagined I would get to go to a game like this.”

Brandon brother, Marty Burlsworth, says moments like these are exactly what Brandon would have wanted. “If he was here, he would be right here in the middle of this,”  Marty said.

The foundation also runs Brandon Burlsworth Football Camps. These camps teach young athletes football skills while also focusing on life lessons like teamwork, leadership, and working hard to reach goals. Scholarships make sure every child has the chance to attend, no matter their family’s income.

Another important part of the foundation is scholarships and support programs for students and athletes. They help young people pay for school, get sports equipment, or take part in programs that build character and confidence.

In addition to its camps and scholarship programs, the foundation also supports community outreach events and character education programs in schools. Volunteers work with teachers and coaches to share Brandon’s story and encourage students to set goals and make good choices. These programs remind young people that success isn’t just about talent, it’s about heart, persistence, and believing in yourself even when things get tough.

Through these programs, the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation keeps Brandon’s spirit alive. His story reminds everyone that hard work, faith, and doing the right thing can make a lasting difference on the field and in life.
