FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – This October, in honor of National Protect Your Hearing Month and Audiology Awareness Month, the U of A is offering free hearing screenings at the Epley Center for Health Professions to all faculty, staff and students.

Dr. Taryn Loyd, an audiologist at the U of A Speech and Hearing Clinic, said this is a brand new opportunity for the campus. “This is the first time we are offering free hearing screenings for faculty and students. Depending on the outcome, we would love to continue this in the future.”

A qualified audiologist will conduct the screening. You can expect a review of your hearing history, a visual inspection of your ear canal and a hearing test. The process is designed to be quick and non-invasive while providing you with valuable insights into your hearing health.

“Early detection of hearing issues is important because it helps people get the support they need before problems get worse.” Loyd said. “If hearing loss is found early, treatment can make communication easier at school, work, and daily life.”

The U of A offers these screenings with the intent of providing accessible care, raising awareness, and giving valuable information for individuals to make informed decisions about their hearing health.

“For children, it can prevent delays in speech and language. For adults it can lower the risk of feeling isolated or frustrated.” Loyd said. “Overall, finding hearing problems early helps people stay connected, healthy, and confident.”

Schedule your free screening by filling out this form and emailing it to spclinic@uark.edu to book your appointment.
