FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – “Ho No More” is coming back to the University of Arkansas campus. Sister Cindy is a controversial street preacher who has a large TikTok following. Cindy Smock, an evangelical Christian, promotes simple living and preaches the importance of abstinence. Her catch phrase, “Ho No Mo”, promotes chastity and sexual education.
Smock has been speaking at college campuses since the 1970s, with her husband, “Brother Jed”. He passed mid-2022, but Sister Cindy still visits these campuses. In 2021, she rose to fame on her TikTok platform.
Her most viral videos attracted the Gen Z audience because of her over-the-top and flashy preaching styles. Students around college campuses found her opinions funny. The crowds started to grow, and her speeches drew in different audiences.
When Sister Cindy made her appearance last year on the university’s campus, students were able to watch her speak. Sophomore Haley Greer says that she stayed to watch Sister Cindy because of her hateful language towards college students.
“Students keep listening to her slut shame and offensive language towards us because we find her funny. She becomes so passionate about what she is speaking about that when audience members ask her questions, she gets very passionate.” said Greer.
Some students might find her funny, but others feel that her hateful language is offensive. She targets the LGBTQ+ community and says that being gay leads to hell.
When Sister Cindy came to the university’s campus, she made plenty of remarks referring to how we should change for good.
Many students speak against Sister Cindy and feel that she should be banned from visiting college campuses. Some think that she is not expressing her true beliefs but instead wants to gain a social media following by her outlandish speech.
Sister Cindy is set to appear on campus on October 27th and at the University of Central Arkansas the following day. She also has online bible studies on Mondays at 7:30 p.m.
