FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV)- Incoming students can attend “A-Week” events as they start their journey on the Hill.
A-Week takes place the week before classes start and acts as a way to introduce new students to various university programs.
This year the Office of Transition Programs and Initiatives have planned a variety of events and activities.
A-Week kicks off on Monday, August 11 with A-Team meetings. This event allows students to meet with their A-Week mentor and small groups. Meetings will take place on Old Main Lawn at 10:00 a.m.
Monday will end with a New Student Welcome and Cookout at the Arkansas Union Mall. Food service will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the program at 6:30 p.m. Dining halls will be closed during this event.
On Wednesday, August 13, students can participate in Hammock on the Hill in the Morgan Hall Lawn at 2:00 p.m.
On Thursday, students can start their day with games of Bingo in the Union Food Court from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and end the night with a Paint-U DJ Paint Party starting at 7:30 p.m.
Students can also try their hand in a week long scavenger hunt for the Golden Cardinal. Throughout the week riddles will slowly lead players to the location of the cardinal. The first to find it will win $100 dining dollars, bookstore merchandise, a signed basketball by Men’s Basketball Coach John Calipari, and a flat screen TV.
Finally, the office of Transition Programs and Initiatives will end the week with their Pick One Student engagement fair. This event allows new students to meet with Registered Student Organizations they could become a part of. The fair will take place in the International Connections Lounge in the Arkansas Union from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
A-Week features many more events for incoming students to join.
