FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) — The end of the spring 2025 semester is near, which means spring student events are starting. One of the biggest student events is Row Fest, filled with exclusive Greek life events that occur at the end of every spring semester at the University of Arkansas. According to B-Unlimited, “Every fraternity participates by having a date night, function night, and everyone’s favorite part is Saturday, which includes a large concert series – music festival style.” Students need a wristband from a fraternity member and a valid identification to enter the fest.
The first weekend of Row occurred this past weekend. Instead of it being filled with fun and friends, student safety has gone out the window; specifically with over-consuming alcohol. According to the University of Arkansas Greek Life office, several students were sent home due to their unsafe conditions.
With how last weekend played out, Fayetteville Police Department is hoping University of Arkansas students will put safety first by preparing in advance.
“You plan for what you’ll wear, who you will hang out with, and where you are going. Plan ahead on how you will look out for each other, and how you will safely make it back home,” said Fayetteville Police Department Sergeant Stephen Mauk. “Ubers, Lyfts, and Taxi cabs are very cheap. A lot cheaper than a DWI.”
This weekend, several music artists are coming to Fayetteville to perform festival style at either two venues: JJ’s Live or the Arkansas Event Center. As of today, Row Fest has artist Slim Jxmmi performing Thursday, April 10 at the Arkansas Event Center, Niiko x Swae, Leondis and Trippie Redd performing at JJ’s Live on Friday, April 11, and Soulja Boy performing on Saturday, April 12 at the Arkansas Event Center. Thursday night is presented by the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, Friday’s artists are presented by Beta Theta Pi, Sigma Nu and Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternities and Saturday night is presented by the Sigma Pi fraternity.
