FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – The wait is finally over. Mullins Library has officially reopened its newly renovated Levels 1 and 2, welcoming students and staff to a modern space for collaboration, research and study.
On March 31, people were able to explore the new common areas featuring new furniture, upgraded study rooms, more printing stations and expanded Special Collections spaces. The updated library offers an inviting atmosphere making it the perfect place for academic success.
To ensure a smooth experience, library staff are stationed throughout the reopened sections, ready to assist and answer questions. “Even now, while materials are being relocated as we transition into our new spaces, our Help Desk personnel are ready to help you track down whatever you may need,” said Kelsey Lovewell, the Director of Public Relations.
An important factor that plays a role in the new renovations is it will be able to tailor to a variety of student needs. “We listened to student feedback, and are thrilled to now offer more individual study rooms and group study spaces than ever before,” said Lovewell.
The renovations also pave the way for highly anticipated Fowler’s Nook Café, which will offer students and faculty a space to relax and refuel between study sessions.
“The inclusions of a cafe will prevent the need for students to leave the building in order to get a coffee or a meal, which will enable them to manage their work and study time more efficiently,” said Lovewell.
With rapid advancements in technology, the university aims to equip students with essential digital skills that will help them thrive in their careers. The upgraded library includes enhanced tech resources and collaborative spaces to foster hands-on learning.
“We want U of A students to graduate with the skills they need to succeed in the workforce, and today’s job market requires a high level of technological literacy,” said Lovewell.
The reopening of Mullins Library marks a significant step in enhancing the academic experience at the University of Arkansas. With improved facilities and expanded resources the library is now better equipped to support student success.
