FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) — Maxine’s Tap Room is a staple in Fayetteville’s bar scene and this iconic bar is celebrating its 75th anniversary on March 18th.
Maxine Miller opened this bar on March 18, 1950 when she borrowed money from her parents. This is especially historic as women were not allowed to legally bartend til the early 70s.
The 75th anniversary celebration will take place Tuesday March 18th from 4 p.m. til close at Maxines Tap Room on Block avenue.
The current owner of Maxine’s Tap Room, Hannah Withers, is helping partner with Crisis Brewing for a special collaboration.
“Crisis Brewing made us a special legacy lager and we are donated a dollar from each of those pints to the Maxine Miller Scholarship Fund at the University of Arkansas.” said Hannah Withers.
The Maxine Miller scholarship legacy fund was a scholarship started in 2022 to help support University of Arkansas Students who have been the foundation of the customers at Maxines Tap Room. If you would like to donate to this scholarship the link to donate is on their website
Maxines Tap Room is one of the longest running businesses in Fayetteville right under Georges Majestic Lounge which is 97 years old.
Andrea Foren, the great niece of Maxine Miller, is really proud of this accomplishment for her family’s business
“I would say there is not many businesses period that even last 10 to 20 years let alone 75. I think its a milestone that doesn’t come around very often for small businesses in a great community” said Andrea Foren.
The event is free to the public to attend. They will Odeon Vinyl Collective will be playing as well as food truck and Jason Jones will be in attendance to do a live painting.
“There is a very narrow open window to be here for the 75th” said Andrea Foren.
