Associated Student Government general election

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) — Voting has begun for the Associated Student Government General Election. Student voting will be held on vote.uark.edu up until March 12 at 4 p.m.

The election will determine the positions of president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. Voters will also be able to vote on senators from their colleges.

When talking about the role of ASG on campus, Chief Justice Adithya Kombathula said the ASG executive team is the main messenger between students and administration.

“A lot of things that students want to see carried out or initiatives they want to see undertaken, ASG finds a way to undertake those,” said Kombathula. “The president and vice president serve as the conjoining link between the two groups.”

Kombathula said the president and vice president help set up important events on campus such as the annual campus blood drive and safety week.

“The same way that civic engagement is important, engaging with the campus community is also very important,” said Kombathula.

Kombathula said no matter what student organizations or college you are a part of, ASG serves as a communal space that anyone can be involved in just by voting.

“Your voting on the leaders that you want to carry out things that make a positive change on campus,” said Kombathula.

Just by casting a vote for the ASG General Election, Kombathula said you have already engaged with the campus community and bettered the future.

Kombathula said when students go to the website, click “vote here,” and it will take you to a Qualtrics survey where students will sign in with their student email and password.

Voting is available to all undergraduate students who would like to vote.

If students prefer to vote in person, they can visit the Arkansas Union room ARKU A607 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. before the voting deadline.
