Razorback rally falls short to Sooners

Oklahoma Defeated Arkansas 65-62

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) -Coming off of a nail-biting win at home against Georgia, the Hogs were back in Bud Walton to take on Oklahoma. Both teams entered with one conference victory, and look to close the gap to the rest of the SEC.

The Razorbacks took command early on, jumping out to an 8-3 lead off a pair of threes from Karter Knox. They managed to hold onto the lead for the first seven minutes of the game, before Jalon Moore put OU in front for the first time. This sparked a 23-10 run in favor of the Sooners, putting the hogs in a 13-point hole with four minutes remaining in the half. Despite the deficit, Arkansas answered with their own run to get the gap to just four, and head to the half down 35-31.

Though both teams had major scoring runs in the first, the second saw both teams trade blows the whole way. Arkansas managed to take their first lead of the half off a Johnell Davis Free throw with 12:47 to play. The Hogs managed to stretch that lead out to six, which was the largest of either team in the second.

The final ten minutes had six ties, but only a single lead change. Jeremiah Fears gave the Sooners the lead on a driving layup with four minutes left. Johnell Davis hit his third three of the game to level the score at 62 with just over two to play. Jalon Moore was fouled to put OU up one, and despite having the ball with the shot clock turned off, Davis missed a layup, turning the ball over and giving Oklahoma the 65-62 win.

Arkansas’ next game will be on Saturday, February 1 in Lexington, Kentucky to take on the ninth-ranked Wildcats. This will also be the first time Head Coach John Calipari returns to Rupp Arena since coming to the hill back in March. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 pm and can be streamed on ESPN.
