FAYETTEVILLE, ARK (UATV) – A 19-year old University of Arkansas student has died after an incident at The Cardinal apartment complex.

Police believe he fell from an elevated balcony after discovering the body outside of the apartment complex in response to a 911 call on Monday.

This comes just six days after police say an 18-year-old female student fell from a balcony in the same apartment complex. According to police she is now recovering from critical injuries.

Fayetteville PD says the two incidents are unrelated, but are investigating both for criminal activity. The police have not released names of either of the victims.

The investigation is currently in the stage of speaking to witnesses in the apartment complex, and processing the deceased body to confirm the cause of death for the 19-year-old male.

The Cardinal at West Center is a student housing option. It is offered by the U of A as an off-campus apartment.

UATV is in contact with Fayetteville PD and will continue covering the story.
