FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – Last week the Arkansas newsletter hinted about a big announcement that will impact the state and generations of Arkansans.
This morning at a reception, the announcement was made about the Land of Opportunity Scholarship.
Famous alumnus and Arkansas native, Bobby Bones, hosted the event. Bobby Bones and Chancellor Robinson talked specifically about how this will impact our community.
Robinson said, “This scholarship is for Arkansas and so if you meet the economic qualifications we will address your need with this scholarship.”
One of the biggest announcements of the morning was that Jane and Bryan Hunt of the JB Hunt family donated 100 million dollars, bringing the university closer to their 200 million dollar goal.
Robinson also spoke about the work they have to do on scholarship, “I’m glad we are celebrating today because we are about to roll up our sleeves and get to work to make this thing everything and more than you can imagine it being to support these students.”
Arkansas is 6th from the bottom in poverty and 12th from the bottom for education. The scholarship will help so many people receive the education they dreamed of having but didn’t have the opportunity to achieve.
