FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) –As October comes to a close, Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA) is wrapping up its Breast Cancer Awareness Month initiatives with one final event—Pink Pancake. This Thursday, the sorority will host the event to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer education, a cause at the heart of their national philanthropy. The event, which is open to the public, will feature pink-themed pancakes and aim to encourage community members to “Think Pink” in support of breast cancer awareness.

Zeta Tau Alpha has been a driving force in promoting breast cancer education and awareness for more than 25 years. Their national “Think Pink®” campaign serves as an umbrella for events and partnerships across the country, from distributing nearly 25 million pink ribbons to collaborating with prestigious organizations like the National Football League (NFL) and the American Cancer Society®.

“Breast cancer education and awareness is important to the entire community because 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed in their lifetime,” said Kenzie Miller, Zeta Tau Alpha’s philanthropy director at the University of Arkansas. “ZTA’s mission is to educate the community and spread awareness through events like Pink Pancake.”

Pink Pancake is one of the chapter’s signature events, providing a fun and interactive way to engage the community while supporting a serious cause. Attendees can expect a lively atmosphere, complete with pink decorations, themed pancakes, and an opportunity to contribute directly to the fight against breast cancer.

According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women in the U.S., making education and early detection vital. Events like Pink Pancake help spread awareness and foster a sense of community support for those affected by the disease.

“Pink Pancake is a ZTA staple!” Miller added. “It is beyond an honor to represent a cause such as breast cancer education and awareness, and this event is a prime example of the commitment this community has to making 1 in 8, none in 8.”

In addition to Pink Pancake, Zeta Tau Alpha’s national philanthropy also includes partnerships with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), which received a special $500,000 grant from the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation in 2022 to fund a two-year research project. Locally, the University of Arkansas chapter has focused its efforts on raising awareness through campus events, distributing breast health tip cards, and supporting breast cancer survivors.

Pink Pancake will take place at The ZTA House, 530 Oakland Ave, Fayetteville, AR 72701, this Thursday, October 24th. Attendees can enjoy pink-themed treats and participate in ZTA’s mission of education and awareness. Proceeds from the event will support ZTA’s continued efforts in breast cancer education, research, and support for survivors.
