FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – Poster Invasion has taken over the University of Arkansas. The company is based in Greenville, S.C., and hosts the annual pop-up poster sale each year on campus. This year, it is taking place this in the Union Flag Room from Sept. 16-20.
Team Leader for Poster Invasion, Cedrica Smith, said, “We get pretty busy when we come here to this campus compared to other universities.” This sale is an opportunity for students to spice up their dorm rooms or add new decor to their on and off-campus apartments.
The Poster Invasion event is hosted each year as the business chooses to come back to the U of A campus due to the popularity and the sales they achieve. “It’s like an alien invasion,” said Smith. “When it’s not happening, people don’t think about it much, but when we are here, it is all people talk about.”
This event allows students to support the company each year and get excited about the new releases of posters, bags, lights, and postcards that they sell. “Many students are repeat buyers; they wait each year for us to come back and it is an awesome feeling to see familiar faces,” said Smith. They cycle through many posters varying from popular movies, print art, new graphics, and famous bands.
The business prides itself on having new and trendy materials for sale each year that are compatible with the students they sell to. In comparison to last year, they noticed more students wanted graphics and cultural trends for their decorations compared to current popular movies that might age out of their style. They try to cater to all students on campus from different backgrounds and take pleasure in providing diverse content for all of their buyers. As of today, they have sold over half of their inventory and plan on bringing more items for the last few days of their pop-up shop.
Students can be seen forming lines across the historic union flag room during all hours of the day to snag their favorite poster before Poster Invasion sells out. The operating hours of the poster sale are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All sales are final and the products are first come, first serve. The prices for large posters range from $13 to $16 and small posters are $10 to $13. The event will be open now until the end of the school week on Friday, Sept. 20.
