FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – Black Owned NWA has teamed up with Onyx Coffee Lab to raise funds for the upcoming 2025 NWA Black Expo.
Black Owned NWA is an organization dedicated to supporting and promoting black-owned business and entrepreneurs. The partnership involves a limited edition special blend coffee sold at all Onyx locations. A portion of the proceeds are allocated to support the February 2025 Black Expo.
Black Owned NWA is committed to helping local entrepreneurs participate in the Black Expo, an event aimed at celebrating and promoting Black culture, businesses, and community.
Onyx Coffee Lab reached out to Jasmine Hudson, the co-founder of Black Owned NWA, because they were impressed by what they were doing in the community and their missions aligned. Onyx Coffee Lab strive to create exceptional coffee experiences while supporting ethical sourcing and community development.
Hudson said she thought it was surprising because she hadn’t expected such a big brand to engrain themselves in the community as much as Onyx has.
“It was such a shock when they reached out to us, so we were excited about it and jumped on it right away,” Hudson said.
Jaxon Nash, the media manager for Onyx Coffee Lab said that they were looking for ways to invest back into the community, and thought Black Owned NWA would be a great start.
Nash thinks it’s morally bound to help the community with the following Onyx has gained on the media. “If we an do anything to use that following to spread awareness and attraction to Black Owned NWA the we will do that,” Nash said.
The coffee flavor has notes of orange, dark chocolate, raisin, and raw honey. The countries of origin and Columbia, Honduras and Ethiopia.
Hudson expressed that she wanted the coffee to appeal to even those who aren’t coffee fan. She said that non-coffee drinkers haven given her feedback expressing they like the coffee.
The limited edition coffee will be sold at all Onyx Coffee Lab locations through September to the second week of office. The expo scheduled for next year will feature a variety of activities including vendor booths.
