FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV)– UARK wellness hosts a self-love tea party.
The self tea party will take place in the Pat Walker health Center from 4 PM to 6 PM and will offer refreshments and activities for guests. According to UARK Wellness, “Valentines may be passed, but loving yourself, has no expiration date.” The self-love tea party is the first event for UARK wellness’ and CAPS Eating Disorder Awareness Week.
You are wellness student Isabella Garcia says the tea party will offer students a chance to do arts and crafts, while socializing with other students in a stress-free space. “The reason we hosted this event is so students could do activities that promote wellness. We have A group that is writing love letters to themselves, coloring, which is stress-free and we also have button making,” Garcia says.
Garcia says one of her favorite parts about the tea party is that the wellness lounge in the Pat Walker health center is gaining more awareness. “I love that we have all these people come here and get acquainted with the wellness lounge because this space is kind of unknown on campus and it’s a really great resource for people,” Garcia says.
University of Arkansas student any tally says this was a fun event to get her mind off homework and reminded her college isn’t just going to class and doing work.
“I am a biology major so at times I feel like I’m drowning in homework and stressed and a lot of my classes. This was a fun event for me, because I got a chance to talk to new people and participate in button making with positive messages to reaffirm myself. My favorite activity was definitely coloring, it felt like I was in a better state of mind after a few minutes of coloring, ” Annie says.
Annie Talley says she was not aware of the wellness lounge located in the Walker health center until the tea party. “I had no clue about the wellness lounge in the services that were offered in here, I hope more students become of the resources we have here at the University of Arkansas,” Annie says. Annie said she believes that more events being held in the wellness center will help students figure out that they have options on how to get help with different issues.
Eating Disorder Awareness Week events will continue Wednesday with the Pat Walker health center hosting a session called “Let’s talk: Body Image in College,” from 4 PM to 5 PM.
