Palestine peace protesters demand ceasefire

By: Carlee Gilpin

Fayetteville, Ark. (UATV)- Abel Tomlinson with the Arkansas Anti-War Alliance held a Palestine Peace Protest on Sunday, October 22nd. It was held in front of the Washington County Courthouse with nearly 200 protesters. Chants like “end the siege end the war” echoed outside of the courthouse, and many vehicles honked in solidarity.

Protests across the nation began after Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, launched a surprise attack on southern Israel from the Gaza Strip on October 7th. Israeli military responded by a ground invasion and a total blockade of the Gaza Strip. However, for Palestinians, the genocide has been an ongoing issue for decades.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, there have been nearly 18,000 casualties between Palestine and Israel as of December 3rd.

“I want peace in the world and the United States is one of the biggest forces for not having peace in the world,” Abel Tomlinson said. Tomlinson also said he is calling for a stop to the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians and to end the war.

Tomlinson is continuing the fight for Palestinians and will be holding another protest in Fayetteville on December 16th. On his most recent Facebook post he said, “ceasefire is the bare minimum of what needs to happen.”
