FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – A murder suspect has been arrested for the suspicious death located at the Sugar Tree Apartments.
On September 30th, Fayetteville Police Department responded to a call that led to the discovery of the deceased 49-year-old Willie McAway found in unusual circumstances.
Authorities recently revealed the victim appeared to be beaten, left with a bloody face and clothing, as well as blood spatters on the apartment’s wall.
A surveillance camera on McAway’s porch revealed 32-year-old David Osorio entering and leaving the apartment several times on the day of the homicide.
Tony Murphy, Fayetteville Police Department Sergeant, said evidence suggests the two individuals were acquaintances prior to the murder.
“We don’t know exactly why the incident happened, but that there was an altercation between the two of them that resulted in the death of the victim.”
The autopsy revealed strangulation, fractures of the hyoid bone and thyroid cartilage, blunt force trauma to the head and torso, including rib fractures and multiple lacerations.
“On Friday, the sixth of October, we did arrest the suspect in that homicide and detectives took him into custody,” Murphy said.
Osorio is facing charges of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. The suspect is being held in the Washington County Detention Center with bail set at $750,000.
