FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – Two individuals were shot in an employee parking lot near Washington Regional Medical Center on September 28 according to police.

“The shooting did not actually occur at the hospital,” said Fayetteville Police Sgt. Anthony Murphy.

According to police, the individuals drove themselves to the emergency room after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said there has been an influx of reported shootings since the beginning of the semester, but police warn that it is not a trend. “The number of shootings that we’ve worked this year is down compared to last year and the year before,” said Murphy.

The investigation is ongoing.
