FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – The Fayetteville Police Department is investigating a homicide after a 49-year-old man was found dead inside a residence on Leverett Avenue.
Police responded at noon on September 30 after an individual entered their friend’s apartment to find them deceased.
Police initially ruled the incident as a suspicious death but upon examination will now be investigating the case as a homicide.
“They’re [going to] be looking at all the leads they have at this point and looking for any witnesses,” explained Fayetteville Police Sgt. Anthony Murphy.
The record number of homicides in Fayetteville occurred in 2020 with seven murders. Police said that they have not reached the same high this year. “We’ve had five homicides this year,” said Murphy.
The investigation is still ongoing.
