FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – The Pat Walker Health Center won the Innovation Award for the Vaccine Challenge across the state of Arkansas.
The University of Arkansas participated in a challenge with other colleges and universities across the state of Arkansas. The vaccine challenge tests schools and their ability to spread awareness of the flu and COVID-19.
The Innovation Award went to the University that could get the most undergraduate students to self-report that they received their flu and COVID-19 vaccine.
The University of Arkansas didn’t win the overall challenge, but we did win the Innovation Award for the unique ways we spread awareness about these viruses.
The Assistant Director for Marketing and Communications, Breeanne Carter, was proud to win the award and for the hard work, it represents.
“Winning this award acknowledges the hard work we put into encouraging the campus community to receive their annual flu and COVID vaccine and spreading the word about the survey to help the U of A try to win the overall challenge.
Carter was appreciative of the award but had her sights set out to win the overall competition in 2023-2024.
“We can only hope that the campus community can help the U of A win the overall ImmunizeAR challenge for the 2023-2024 Flu/COVID season, in addition to winning this year’s innovation award.”
Carter wasn’t the only one that was appreciative of the award, the Director of Nursing at Pat Walker Health Center, Leslie Adams, emphasized the team’s efforts in spreading the word.
“”We worked hard to get word out to the campus community that a) they should get their flu and COVID vaccines, and b) they should fill out the ImmunizeAR survey to show that they had received their vaccines.”
The Pat Walker Health Center is appreciative of the award they received, and hungry to win more for the next school year.
