NWA looks to benefit with gas prices going down

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark (UATV) – Gas prices in the Northwest Arkansas area are dwindling down during the times of inflation. According to Exxon Mobil, the cost of oil has gone down for companies. In turn, this helps with lowering fuel prices.

Unleaded gas is at a little over $3, with last years average being 20 cents over. Last summer, the average was at $4.50.

Senior Isaiah Reeder said this will benefit him from a personal standpoint with spring break when he goes on a mission trip to Colorado.

“I’ll be able to, first of all, get to class easier,” Reeder said. “A lot cheaper. Get to work a lot cheaper. As far as hanging out with people, I drive some people around sometimes. Give them rides and stuff.”

This will help students not have to spend a lot more on gas whenever they plan to hit the road and go home or on vacation. Students can also settle with carpooling and save more money.

Another way to save money is to download mobile apps like GasBuddy and GasGuru. These types of apps show the user the best price they can get for fuel in their area at different stations.

According to Exxon Mobil, gas prices are mostly based on the supply and demand and companies will try to capitalize on the opportunity.

“Inflation in general is just like where the economy becomes more expensive,” Reeder said. “So if everything goes up, but gas prices, I don’t think that’s a thing that can happen.”

Spring break is less than four weeks away and will be from March 20-24. Exxon Mobil said that people need to keep on checking on the rate of gas prices before leaving Fayetteville.
