FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – The University of Arkansas talks of affiliating with University of Phoenix which could bring in almost $20 million worth of revenue.

Online education has been a growing need since the pandemic in 2020. Some students have grown accustomed to the nontraditional form of education.

Director of communications at the University of Arkansas System, Nate Hinkel, said that nothing is imminent at this time.

“I do want to confirm that the UA System itself would not be acquiring the University of Phoenix, and no public or university funds would be involved in this potential transaction,” Hinkel said.

The university system has been exploring new educational markets, specifically online education. Hinkel said that the UA System feels obligated to explore this opportunity.

“The goal in exploring opportunities such as this to advance the system’s mission of providing affordable, relevant education to a broad range of students and introducing the UA System to new educational markets,” Hinkel said.

While this is an option that is being considered, no decision has been made and conversations are ongoing.
