FAYETTEVILLE, Ark (UATV)-The Pat Walker Health Center has released a new website to provide information on multiple diseases.
The Pat Walker Health Center is able to test for numerous communicable diseases and assist in treating the diseases as well. This website allows users to gather knowledge on symptoms, testing, vaccinations and much more for the following diseases.
- COVID-19
- Hepatitis A,B, and C
- Tuberculosis
- Influenza
- Monkeypox
- Measles, mumps, and rubella
- Human Papillomavirus
- Sexually transmitted infections
The assistant medical director for the Pat Walker Health Center Dr. Carlos Acosta says, “A communicable disease webpage provides our university community with a centralized source of information for the latest updates and guidelines on how to identify, treat, and prevent the spread of infectious diseases.” Communicable diseases are ones that are contagious, they can be spread from one person to another through many ways. These ways include physical contact with an infected person, contact with a contaminated area or travel through the air.
The website will also include the purpose and responsibilities of the outbreak committee at the U of A. Dr. Acosta says, “This information is critical for the well-being and health of our university and helps to promote a safe and healthy environment for all students, faculty and staff.” The health center will continue to bring information to the campus and monitor communicable diseases.
