FAYETTEVILLE, Ark (UATV)-The University of Arkansas Law Review has chosen an editor in chief for the 2023-24 academic year, Jissel Esparza Saucedo.

Esparza will be the first person of color to serve in this position in school history and is only a second-year student in the U of A Law School. She says, “It is the greatest honor of my life to serve as editor in chief…While I am the first editor of chief of color, I am confident there are many more to follow.”

Esparza is from the state of Arkansas and received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in accounting and finance, with a minor in Spanish from the Walton College of Business.

She has set goals as the incoming editor of chief that include getting more first-year law students involved with the school. She motivates students to try new things and even said, “Many students come to law school thinking they know exactly what type of law they want to practice but find different pathways through the variety of course offerings.”

The editor in chief position for the Arkansas Law Review is selected by the outgoing editorial board. Esparza has held a position from the University before, when she served as the treasurer for the student body in 2020-21.
