FAYETTEVILLE, Ark (UATV)-The Mount Sequoyah Center is continuing to grow after unveiling another piece of art in late January.

The public art collection recently installed a bench in honor of Robert T. Hodous. Hodous, who was a former tennis coach at Mount Sequoyah passed away last year at age 29. The bench was created by local free-lance builder, Eugene Sargent. Mount Sequoyah officials said in a social media post, “This beautiful sculpture, created by local legend Eugene Sargent is much more than just a bench – it’s a tribute to the impact Coach Rob had on our community and the lives of so many”

The bench is designed to be four tennis balls with a racquet behind it, while each ball is spilt open to act as seats for visitors. The artwork looks over the north side of the Mount Sequoyah Center onto tennis courts where Hodous had his lessons. “We hope to see you there as we honor his memory and legacy” Mount Sequoyah officials said as they prepared for the unveiling.

Hodous was an avid Razorback tennis fan and had even strung tennis racquets for the University of Arkansas tennis team.
