University of Arkansas faculty reminded of political activity guidelines

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – In anticipation of election day, The University of Arkansas recently reminded faculty of their guidelines regarding political activity.

The University of Arkansas’ policies concerning political activity ranges from how the faculty is allowed to engage in political events to how outdoor spaces can be used in the same regard.

All employees of the University of Arkansas are permitted to participate in any political activity with the caveat that they are prohibited from involving the institution at all. This refers to the use of names, symbols, properties or supplies that attribute the University of Arkansas in any manner. Faculty members are also not allowed to engage in political activity during their allotted work hours.

University facilities and outdoor spaces can be utilized for any political event as long as permission was given in advance, typically through the form of reservation.

The building executive of a respective space must also give confirmation to hold any political activity indoors. The guidelines for these processes are purposely broad as the University of Arkansas intends to foster the advancement of knowledge all within the First Amendment’s principles.
