Phishing attacks on campus emails

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – Thousands of University of Arkansas email users have been targeted by a recent phishing attack.

This message asked users to either enter a code to view a shared file on Google Drive or respond to a job offer request from a different university. If users respond, the scammers will try to obtain passwords and enter their accounts.

The U of A states they will never ask for passwords or social security information in a shared file or any location other than a university secured website. Personal data should also never be shared through email or any organization without verifying the authenticity.

If a user receives this message, the university recommends using the Report Phishing and Junk email button in Outlook. This feature sends the message to the information security team within IT services so action can be taken.
