FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Associated Student Government partnered with the NWA center for sexual assault located in Springdale, Ark., that provided a safe space for adult survivors that have experienced sexual assault.
ASG’s Deputy Director of safety Aidan Bhargava, said they want to make it known there are many resources for students.
“The most important thing for students to know is how many resources we do have, whether that’s access to CAPS or the Title IX office, we have so many resources for students to not only feel safer but if they encounter situations.”
Advocate for the NWA center for sexual assault, Anna Hamaker said that they see cases increase every year.
“We see a spike of cases at the center in the first few months of the semester so August, September, October and I know the campus is pretty active during Sexual Assault Awareness month, but I noticed that there wasn’t anything at the beginning of the semester for sexual assault awareness and prevention.”
The NWA center for sexual assault offers a 24-hour crisis hotline number, forensic rape kit exams, counseling, and support groups. This center is located in Springdale, but keep an eye out for upcoming events that will be on campus.
